Revive Agriculture:IBB urges Northern Governors

Former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd), Monday called on northern governors to intensify efforts in reviving agriculture in the region, with a view to tackling the myriads of problems bedevilling the region. Speaking at the inauguration of the Skill Acquisition Centre at Milgoma in Bodinga Local Government Srea of Sokoto State yesterday, Babangida said the revival of the economy of the North depends on agriculture, hence the need for the 19 governors in the North to key into agriculture to restore the lost glory of the region. The former president said he was determined to champion the cause for the revival of agriculture in the region by prevailing on northern governors to give agriculture the consideration it deserves. He urged other governors in the region to emulate the Sokoto State Governor, Aliyu Wamakko, by establishing skill acquisition centres where women and youths would be trained on various agricultural skills. "I really commend Wamakko for initiating these centres where people are trained on modern farming techniques because there is nothing as profitable as agriculture. " So, I am calling on governors in the region to emulate what Wamakko has done. They should try to replicate these centres in their states and I believe in the long run, the desired goals would be achieved," he stressed. According to him, doing so will go a long way in addressing the myriads of problems of poverty and unemployment bedevilling the region. He stressed the need for state governments in the region to train and sensitise the people on the need to embrace farming activities and also endeavour to support them to turn around the economy of the region. Babangida commended Wamakko, for executing people oriented projects in the state.
The former military president also called for support for the governor in his quest to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the state. Babangida, who spoke briefly in Hausa language, said: "Sokoto sai Alu, mu Alu mukai; meaning the people of Sokoto are solidly behind Wamakko and in Sokoto, we are all for Wamakko." He therefore expressed gratitude to the government and people of the state for the invitation and opportunity given to him to inaugurate the projects. In his remark, the state governor said the ultra modern villas were built and equipped with facilities to host esteemed personalities who visit the state, describing the edifice as part of the present administration's efforts to provide worthy heritage to the people. In his remark, Wamakko said his administration established three skill acquisition centres in three senatorial districts of the state where women and youths would be trained on poultry, fish farming, animal husbandry and modern techniques of farming to improve food production. He explained that at least 3,000 women and youth would be trained in the three centres on modern techniques of agricultural production. Wamakko said the move was aimed at addressing rural-urban drift thereby tackling poverty, idleness and unemployment.

14,300 Lagos drivers are partially blind – LASDRI boss

*A driver under going an eye test HOW will you feel if you suddenly discover that the driver of the bus or vehicle you have boarded is blind? In Lagos, it has been discovered that a large percentage of drivers, both private and public are suffering from different degrees of eye defects that have made them to be partially blind. According to the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute LASDRI, which has trained about 65,000 drivers since August 2009, about 22 per cent of the trained drivers or 14,300 were discovered to be partially blind. The law establishing the institute came into being in 2007 but LASDRI commenced operation on August 25h, 2009, with the sole aim of ensuring improved road safety culture on the roads. Road safety culture Mr. Ayodeji Oyedokun, is the Chief Executive Officer CEO, LASDRI, while speaking with Vanguard on the activities of the institution for over four years, stated: “We are all aware of the fact that there are so many drivers with drivers’ license who never had any formal training in driving technology. We are aware of the fact that makes people to rush for driver’s license, which is mainly for an identification document. “What we are saying in essence, is that there are so many people driving out there that are not supposed to owe drivers license because they did not pass through any formal training. This had led to a lot of carnages on the highway, traffic snarl and jam, with resultant effect of gaseous emission into the atmosphere, which ultimately leads to health hazards, and loss of man hours, because they do not know the rules guiding the use of highway. *A driver under going an eye test *A driver under going an eye test “In the highway transportation system, there are three main factors that interplay; the human being which is the driver, the environment-road and the vehicle, it is the human factor that is key to the severity or fatality of road crashes. Therefore, it is the human being that needs to be worked on in terms of competence, fitness, mental alertness, level of eye sight, because driving is about seeing and being seen, hence, the government decided to set up LASDRI.” According to LASDRI boss, before the commencement of operation, various researches were carried out where it showed that 75 percent of auto crashes were due to human errors. Statistics of trained drivers as well as detected defects by LASDRI Optometrist •From January to July, 2013, 12,017 drivers were trained and recertified. •From August 25, 2009 to July, 2013, a total number of 65,000 drivers trained. •Out of the 65,000 of drivers tested, 22 percent (approximately, 14,300 drivers) were found to be suffering from eye defects, such as myopia and were later referred to ophthalmologists for corrective measure. •And 99.2 per cent of drivers with eye defects were males, while 1.8 percent were females. •1.8 per cent of the detected defects were myopic (short sighted) while 12.9 percent were pre-myopic •3.3 percent long sighted Relationship with NURTW: “We are working with, National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, recently, most of the taxi cab drivers in the state came for the training. The yellow bus drivers, popularly called “Danfo drivers” are recalcitrant but we are getting them batch by batch. Though, all the executive members have been trained. All the Bus Rapid Transit BRT, drivers, Rapid Response Squad RRS, drivers are being sent for training at the centres.” Advice: “It is an opportunity for employers of drivers, motorists and the public to learn how safety can be enhanced through training. According to international standard, through training and retraining of drivers, auto accidents due to human error, are expected to be reduced between 35-70 percent. Drivers are not being given adequate training but employers give them millions worth of vehicles to drive without considering safety of the investment. Even companies, individuals from outside the states have been coming for training even federal government’s drivers have been coming. Drivers should also endeavour to have regular eye check up because in most cases, the capacity of eye depreciates on daily basis because of exposure to different factors.” - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/09/14300-lagos-drivers-are-partially-blind-lasdri-boss/#sthash.f3fSo2cH.dpuf

VIKTORIA PLZEN v MANCHESTER CITY: TEAM NEWS

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany could return from a groin injury as his side begin their Champions League campaign against little-known Czech side Plzen.

Kompany has been absent since his side's 4-0 win over Newcastle in their Premier League opener on 19th August but the inspirational defender has travelled with the squad ahead of the Group D encounter.

Fellow defender Martin Demichelis, signed from Atletico Madrid in September, is out with a knee injury and Micah Richards, Gael Clichy and playmaker David Silva are all out injured.

Czech champions Plzen, coached by former Czechoslovakia defender Pavel Vrba for the past five years, came through qualifying impressively, winning all six of the games they played in three rounds.

Defender Marian Cisovsky got forward to score five times - making him the joint-top scorer in the qualifying section - but he is a major doubt for the City clash with a calf complaint.

Radim Reznik will be hoping to land a place on the bench, but he must pass a late fitness test if he is to be involved tonight.

Manchester City Squad: Hart, Pantilimon, Zabaleta, Kompany, Nastasic, Lescott, Boyata, Kolarov, Milner, Nasri, Navas, Fernandinho, Toure, Rodwell, Garcia, Dzeko, Aguero, Jovetic, Negredo.

MANCHESTER UNITED v BAYER LEVERKUSEN: TEAM NEWS

Adnan Januzaj will not be involved in Manchester United's Champions League opener against Bayer Leverkusen at Old Trafford this evening.

United have opted to wait until October 7th to register the Belgian, by which time he will have been at Old Trafford for two years and be eligible for the UEFA B list.

Danny Welbeck looks certain to miss out too with a knee injury, whilst Phil Jones is also a major doubt with an ankle problem. Rafael trained yesterday morning after a hamstring injury.

Shinji Kagawa also joined in the main session, he is still feeling the after-effects of a flu virus.

Wayne Rooney will again wear a protective headband after a recent head wound.

Key Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender faces a late fitness test.

The Germany international missed his team's 3-1 weekend win against Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg, as well as his nation's World Cup qualifiers against Austria and the Faroe Islands.

Manchester United Squad: De Gea, Lindegaard, Amos, Rafael, Fabio, Jones, Smalling, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Buttner, Valencia, Giggs, Carrick, Cleverley, Fellaini, Anderson, Kagawa, Young, Van Persie, Rooney, Hernandez.

Borini would have been better off at Roma, says agent

Fabio Borini should have stayed at Roma and never signed for Liverpool, according to the player's agent.
Borini's representative, Marco De Marchi, thinks the Italy forward would have been better off under ex-boss Zdenek Zeman at Roma, rather than at Anfield.
The Liverpool striker is currently on loan at Sunderland after an injury ravaged first season at Anfield following his £10m switch from Rome.

The 22-year-old struggled initially at Liverpool before suffering a string of injuries that ruled him out for much of the campaign.
The Italian international had three surgical operations on foot and shoulder problems last season, but he hopes to stay fit under Paolo Di Canio this term.
But De Marchi believes he would have enjoyed a more productive time had he stayed in Serie A.
"I think Fabio would have been perfect for the game of Zdenek Zeman, who was then the coach of Roma, but the decision to leave the capital came from both sides," De Marchi told Radio Mana Mana as reported by talkSPORT.
"Everything was concluded very quickly, without a chance for us to talk to the coach. Having said that I still believe Roma was the best possible for Fabio."
Borini made just five starts for Liverpool last season, having played under Reds boss Brendan Rodgers at Swansea. He is yet to play for Sunderland.

Luke Shaw: England's next big "thing"

Born on 12th July, 1995 in Kingston, Southwest London, the left back joined the Southampton academy as an 8 year old. He supported Chelsea as child and when he was only 15, he was a regular for the U18 squad. As a product of the famous Southampton academy that has produced the likes of Gareth Bale and Theo Walcott, there are high hopes that he will become a big star in the near future.
As a 16-year-old, prior to even making any appearances for the first team, Luke Shaw was being monitored by major clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea. But in January 2012, then Southampton manager, Nigel Adkins, revealed that the 16 year old was a "big part of our future plans". Soon after, Luke made his Southampton debut, coming on for Jason Puncheon during an FA Cup tie against Millwall.
After that season, Southampton were back in the Premier League and Shaw was given a regular playing role for the newly promoted club. Able to dash across the left flank with lots of pace and energy, the prodigy has often been compared to Gareth Bale who played a similar role. Being one to always provide overlapping runs for the attack, Luke Shaw was able to amass 25 appearances in the Premier League as a 17 year old.

Interest grew in the English full back and it was later reported that a bid from Arsenal in the region of £10 Million was rejected. Other apparent approaches from the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham have also been rumoured. However, Shaw has seen fully committed his future to Southampton by signing a five-year contract on his 18th birthday.
So far, Shaw has started this season brightly after earning Southampton a penalty in injury time against West Brom which Lambert converted to give the Saints their only league victory of the season. He is currently playing for the England U21 under new coach Gareth Southgate and featured in recent matches against Finland and Moldova.
In addition, Luke Shaw has received further endorsement from compatriot and Manchester United Veteran, Rio Ferdinand who said: "Every time i have seen Luke shaw at this level he has looked really comfortable. Good on the ball, takes the ball, quick & aggressive."
Overall, the Southampton prodigy looks to have similar potential to other Academy graduates like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and if Southampton fails to retain their Premier League status this season, it seems certain that the youngster will be snatched up by a major club.

Top 10: Premier League dribblers

Sadly, the dribble appears to have become somewhat of a dying art in football - particularly in the Premier League.
But these 10 players prove that Premier League players do possess the ability to dribble past an opponent.
In order to have some variety, I've only selected one player per club. Have your say in the comments section if you believe someone else should have been selected.
<p>Your browser does not support iframes.</p>
10. Gaston Ramirez | Southampton
Gaston Ramirez would probably be higher in this list if he played a little more regularly for Southampton.
The Uruguay international has the ability to effortlessly glide past defenders with his quick feet and pace.
9. Nani | Manchester United
It's possible that Wilfried Zaha or Adnan Januzaj will soon become the best dribbler at Manchester United, but for now the more experienced Nani still holds that title.
The Portuguese winger has plenty of skills in his locker, as many Premier League full-backs have discovered over the past six years.
8. Kevin Mirallas | Everton
Kevin Mirallas showcased his impressive dribbling ability with a couple of superb goals last season.
The 25-year-old enjoyed a fine debut Premier League campaign with Everton last term. Expect him to keep better and better.
7. Erik Lamela | Tottenham
Tottenham fans are in store for a treat after their club broke their transfer record on Argentina winger Erik Lamela.
The 21-year-old is more than capable of taking on and beating several opponents, as he proved during his two years at AS Roma.
6. Santi Cazorla | Arsenal
In tight spaces, few players in world football are better than the exquisite Santi Cazorla.
The Arsenal star is equally brilliant on either foot and can leave any defender bamboozled with his remarkable skill.
5. Sergio Aguero | Manchester City
When Sergio Aguero carries the ball towards goal, he's pretty difficult to stop.
The Argentina international boasts surprising strength to compliment his eye-catching dribbling ability.
4. Eden Hazard | Chelsea
Eden Hazard has the potential to become the Premier League's best player - and it might not take him that long to achieve it.
The Belgian star, on his day, is capable of making any defender look foolish.
3. Adel Taraabt | Fulham
It's a shame that Adel Taraabt's defensive play leaves a lot to be desired, because with his extraordinary dribbling ability, he could have been one of the world's best players.
The Moroccan has exceptional talent in those feet of his, as we saw on occasions last season when he was playing for the eventually relegated Queens Park Rangers.
2. Hatem Ben Arfa | Newcastle United
Hatem Ben Arfa still has ambitions to become a Ballon d'Or winner. If the award recognised the best dribblers in the world, he'd be in with a shout.
The Frenchman has scored some incredible goals in his career thanks to his sublime ability to ghost past opponents with that magic wand of a left foot.
1. Luis Suarez | Liverpool
Luis Suarez may be the Premier League's most disliked figure, but he's almost certainly the best dribbler, too.
Few players attempt more dribbles per game than the Uruguay star, who can drift between the tightest Premier League defences and still emerge with the ball.

Team of the week

Wayne Rooney Volley
West Ham, Arsenal, Swansea, Tottenham, Newcastle and Manchester United stars all feature.
Another weekend has passed and another exciting round of Premier League matches have taken place.
liverpool made their first slip up this season against Swansea City, Chelsea suffered their first defeat and Manchester United got back on track with a win against Crystal PalacIt was also a good weekend for the likes of Newcastle United and West Brom, with both sides securing points as they look to drag themselves up the Premier League table.
Here is our team of the week.
GK – Jussi Jaaskelainen
The Finnish goalkeeper was absolutely outstanding for West Ham as they secured a point in a 0-0 draw away at Southampton. Several times he found himself under pressure, with no protection and only himself between Southampton and the lead, producing fine saves that kept the Hammers in it.
RB – Carl Jenkinson
Jenkinson seems to be thriving at Arsenal and looks a better player with every chance he’s being given. Both parts of his game looked solid against Sunderland but he was especially productive in an attacking sense, delivering a cross for Aaron Ramsey to volley home.
CB – Ashley Williams
Swansea’s captain makes the side for his no nonsense, gutsy performance against Liverpool. Not only were there numerous examples of him sticking up for his side, he looked unbreakable against a very talented Liverpool midfield and attack, with the visitors only scoring due to two Jonjo Shelvey errors.
CB – Gareth McAuley
McAuley’s header salvaged a point for Hull against Cardiff City and that was just one of the positive things about his game. He looked immensely comfortable sitting in Hull’s back four at Premier League level. He was rarely caught out of position and made the right decision every time he was put under pressure.
LB – Danny Rose
Danny Rose gets into the side because his basic defensive game against Norwich City was superb. He made a couple of world class blocks but it was the simplicity of his passing in his own defensive third and further up the pitch when he looked to attack, which was most impressive.
RM – Hatem Ben Arfa
Ben Arfa is clearly one of, if not, the most important attacking players that Newcastle have in their current squad. He caused Aston Villa headaches continuously throughout Newcastle’s 2-1 win at Villa Park.
CM – Aaron Ramsey
Ramsey is in the best form of his Arsenal career so far. He’s getting forward, getting on the end of chances and doing his basic job as a midfielder effectively. He certainly doesn’t look out of place alongside some of the other top class midfielder Arsenal have available.
CM – Mesut Ozil
It’s another Arsenal man forming the centre of midfield, as Mesut Ozil made a very pleasing Arsenal debut. He looked extremely comfortable in his first Premier League match. His skill to control a long ball before a precise pass for Olivier Giroud to slot home was world class.
LM – Christian Eriksen
Fair enough Eriksen isn’t a winger, but he had to fit in somewhere across the midfield. Another superb performance with a beautiful assist for Gylfi Sigurdsson’s goal. He looks extremely comfortable on the ball under pressure which is a tribute to the way he was coached at Ajax.
ST – Wayne Rooney
Rooney gets into the side for his performance against Crystal Palace which was his first match after a spell out for a head injury. He looks world class playing the number ten role, dropping off to midfield and pushing on to support Robin van Persie. He capped it all off with a superbly placed free kick for his goal.
ST – Olivier Giroud
Giroud responded well after a disappointing international break with France. He produced a slick and precise finish from a Mesut Ozil pass to continue his fine form. He’s proving on a weekly basis he’s a much better player than just a big, tall striker that Arsenal hit the ball long to.
Who do you think should have been in the team of the week?

“Get Off My Back…I Work For My Success” – Davido Fires At Critics

Davido 1

“Omo Baba Olowo” crooner, David Adeleke or like you all call him, Davido, is very mad at his critics at the moment. And he has fired a very stern warning for them to stop equating his success with his father’s wealth.
The young man who has been working so hard to achieve what he has today bared his mind in an interview on Vox Africa where he said a lot of people attribute his rise to his family background but that for him, he has worked so hard to hone his talents and make a life for himself.
The ‘Skelewu’ dance creator has a billionaire father and many say he has been banking on his dad’s wealth to get to where he is but the chap thinks otherwise. Many are of the opinion that he has it easy being the son of the business tycoon but they also do not know that some of these rich kids have got a lot to deal with especially with filling the huge shoes left by their parents.

MEDILAG Students dance Skelewu!

I recently stumbled on this viral picture featuring students of the College Of Medicine, University of Lagos and I must say it is really hilarious. A dead person returns to life and starts dancing Skelewu after hearing the doctor’s ringtone. Crazy!

ASUU Strike: PDP Members Have Become Star Gazers Looking To The Heavens For Help!

asuu strike

It appears the fate of Nigerian students has been committed to the hands of the Almighty owing to a recent development in which members of a PDP faction led by Abubakar Kawu Baraje, declared a 7 day period of fasting and prayer in order to resolve the current crisis rocking the educational sector in the country. Baraje instituted a four man committee which includes Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State, Chinwo Ike, President of UNIPORT Alumni, Mr. Timi Frank, the PDP National Youth leader with Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State as Chairman.
“The need for this has become urgent as reports reaching us indicate that many of these students have out of frustration and boredom turned to prostitution, armed robbery and other vices due to the prolonged strike’’ the group has said.
Students across the country are wondering just why our politicians are searching the skies for supernatural solutions while the answers to our problems lie fervently with us?

Photo Of The Week: A Caption For Serena Williams

Serena-Williams-

Personally, I do not know how to tag this funny picture of Serena Williams. She has been the number one ranked player in women’s singles tennis and has been so on six separate occasions and is also a fashion icon, one that always looks good in her tennis gear. But in this pose, the 35 times grand slam winner really killed it. So how would you caption this picture?

“Stop Lying 2Face… You Sold My Song And Refused To Pay Me” – Blackface

blackface

There is a fresh wave of war between Nigeria’s hip hop king, 2Face Idibia and his one-time best friend and band mate, Blackface.
A few days ago, Innocent Idibia, that is 2Face anyway, made a stunning revelation on a TV program, Rubbin’ Minds that he actually invited Augustine Ahmedu also known as Blackface to his wedding in Dubai in March, this year.  Back then, Blackface had made it known that he does not attend any ceremony that he was not invited to. So when 2Face said that he actually invited his former friend, many were quick to absolve him of any blame.
However, that assertion has been debunked by Blackface himself when he granted an interview to an Abuja based radio station, Hot FM, stating that 2Face lied and has been avoiding him for reasons best known to him. He said he had been trying to get across to 2Face to talk about his song ‘African Queen’ that has been remixed by a Jamaican artiste in the US without the right to do so.
He said; “if someone sings that song, it means someone gave out the right” and this could only mean 2Face. He continued: “For the wedding, he would have put the blame on his management and called me or something, but till today, since he returned from his wedding in Dubai, he hasn’t called me. My uncle whose house we stayed throughout the beginning of our musical career, passed away at the time of his traditional marriage, then the white wedding, and he never called to even ask about my uncle or to sympathize with me. So there must be something wrong somewhere …it must be about the music money.”
Blackface has persistently claimed ownership of the song African Queen that shot 2Face to the limelight while 2Face has been silent on the accusation over the years.

SexVille Tuesday: Types Of Sex That Is Unhealthy For You

SV 17 1
I know you have been waiting for this Tuesday tonic of SexVille. Well, I also had a tough time counting the days. And finally, we are here. Today, I want us to look at the types of sex that can be unhealthy for you. You may have indulged in one of them or the other and while it may seem to some that sex is sex and getting it can never be a bad thing, there can be such a thing as the wrong kind of sex. Like most guilty pleasures, sex with the wrong person or for the wrong reason is bad, yeah, really bad. Think you know the difference between healthy and unhealthy sex? See if you’ve ever participated in any of the following, and if it was good or bad for you.
First Date Sex
There are no rules as to when a person should or should not have sex. If you’re feeling frisky after a few drinks on the first date or even want to have a one-night-stand, that’s your business. But for some, sex on the first date can make you feel used, dirty or bad about yourself the next day. When it comes to deciding on having sex on the first night, let your instincts be your guide and be safe about it. Just be sure you’re comfortable with your decision, whatever it is.

Break-Up Sex
You may be saying to each other, “Let’s just do it once for old time’s sake,” but that could just make the break up worse than it already is. Most people who want to have break-up sex are still trying to hold on in some way, which can only make the break-up linger longer than it should. Either decide to break up, break ties completely and move on, or stop playing around and decide if breaking up is really what you want to do. If not, then work it out. If it is a break-up, no more goodies. Even if you feel like you can move on after sex, the other person may still be in his or her feelings and you don’t want to take the other person on an emotional roller coaster. Don’t do it.

Make-Up Sex
Make-up sex can be fun, but it can be damaging in the long run if every argument is settled this way. If you have sex after you’ve come to a resolution to the conflict, then rock out! But if you both gloss over the issue by having sex just to shut the other person up or avoid the issue altogether, chances are you’ll just keep arguing over the same thing and never come up with a solution. Some couples can function this way, and thriving on conflict is what keeps their relationship exciting. But chances are this can’t go on forever before one of you starts to feel resentful, cheated or dismissed. Also, some men or women may purposely start some issues just to have make-up sex because they think that’s the best sex. If you really don’t like confrontation or drama, make-up sex may only create more of it.

Don’t Leave Me Sex
This is the desperate sex you have when you want to keep a man after he’s said that he’s leaving you, or wants to break up. It’s that feeble attempt to save the relationship, hoping that the man will realize all that good loving he’ll be missing if he leaves and no one can put it on him like you do. Chill here, please. Sex may get a man, but it won’t keep him. And if you think that’s all you have to offer him so that he’ll stay or that’s the only thing he’ll be missing about you, then you need to let him go so you can work on building yourself up.

Peer Pressure Sex
If you had sex because your friends are doing it or because you were being teased for being a 22-year-old virgin, then you probably didn’t enjoy it. Sex usually isn’t the greatest the first time anyway, so it’s best to wait until you are ready to do ‘the do’ for the first time. Also, if a man says he’s not waiting anymore because it’s been three months and you still haven’t given him the cookies, don’t give in. If he’s not willing to wait, he’s undeserving of your love and sex anyway.

Rebound Sex
You may think that having sex with the next guy you meet after a bad break-up will make you feel better; but chances are it won’t. Now, if it’s been months since you ended a relationship and are in a rut, then getting busy with someone new can bring about a sense of renewed confidence by feeling desired by another man. Sex can be a stress reliever too, so having sex with the next best thing may have its benefits at first to loosen you up. But if you’re looking to the rebound guy to fill a void before you’ve healed from a previous relationship, rebound sex may only make you feel worse.

Drunken Sex
Some people like having sex while they’re inebriated because the alcohol helps them to lose their inhibitions and be freaky all night long. I can see how that might work. But drinking too much has also caused many men and women to make bad judgment calls when choosing who to sleep with, where, and even engaging in risky behavior – like not using condoms. Some say that alcohol also dampens sensation, decreases their ability to climax and some men say that they have a hard time getting it up when they’re drunk. If you plan on having sex, have just one or two drinks. If you don’t plan on having sex, don’t get so drunk that you wind up doing something you’ll regret.
Pity Sex
This is the worst kind of sex you can ever have. Having sex because you feel sorry for someone is just lame. Even if they don’t know it’s pity sex, it will only make you just as pathetic as the person is. You may be making him feel better but what about you? If that person can’t get sex on his own, it’s probably for a reason. Don’t be the cornball who gives in to someone else’s shortcomings.
Obligatory Sex
Obligatory sex usually happens when one partner doesn’t feel like doing it, or may no longer enjoy it, but feels he or she needs to do it anyway – not out of pity, but out of duty. He wants sex morning, noon and night and tells you it’s your “job” to make sure all his needs are met…or someone else will.  If that’s the case, you should tell him to kick the rocks. This kind of sex can lead to feelings of resentment and eventually, you’ll reach your boiling point and blow up. If you don’t feel like it, don’t do it, especially if it’s to the point where it feels like a chore. Explain to him how you feel and ask him to be respectful of your feelings. If he can’t understand that, then too bad. Regular sex is important to a relationship, but if you’re tired, sick or just need a break, tell him to buzz off until you feel up to it.

Flood: Kogi Deputy Governor Commends FG For Managing Release Of Water From Dams

The Kogi Deputy Governor, Mr Yomi Awoniyi,
on Friday commended the Federal
Government for managing the release of water
from the dams in the country. Awoniyi gave the commendation when he
met with the State Flood Management
Committee in Lokoja. According to him, the gradual release of water
from the dams has reduced the incidents of
flooding in the state this year. He also commended officials of the Federal
Ministries of Water Resources and
Environment for managing the situation. The deputy governor said the state observed
that the water level at present was much lower
than what it was in 2012. He expressed appreciation to the Almighty God
because “while the state is expecting the best,
it is also planning for the worst”. Awoniyi said that some states like Kaduna and
Kebbi were already experiencing flood
disasters. He said this had prompted, Gov. Idris Wada, to
direct the committee to submit estimates for
camp construction, purchase of relief
materials and provision of boreholes in the
proposed camps. The deputy governor said the state
government would assist the marine police to
repair their boats for use during the
impending flood. He appealed to the people living in flood
plains to relocate to higher grounds. Awoniyi said such people should not ignore
the warning as they did in 2012 which
resulted in the loss of lives and property.

Jonathan, a bully – Governors

Jonathan
The Progressive Governors Forum has accused President  Goodluck Jonathan of  using his powers to bully Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi  Amaechi.  The governors stated this on Friday while reacting to the  action of the armed  policemen that blocked one of the gates leading to the  Rivers State Government  House on Thursday.
The governors in a statement titled, “Blockade to Rivers  Government House:  Assault on Constitution and Descent to Anarchy”, said the  incident was a direct  affront on constitutional order.  They said, “A situation whereby  the Federal Government will use powers vested in it under the  constitution to bully  and intimidate state governments is unacceptable and should  be resisted by  every democratic government.
“We wish to unequivocally state our resolve to work with  all democrats in the  country to ensure adequate protection of democratic  governance.’’
The statement was signed by Borno State Governor, Kashim  Shetima; Edo State  Governor, Adams Oshiomhole; Ekiti State Governor, Kayode  Fayemi; Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha;  Lagos State Governor, Babatunde  Fashola;  Nasarawa State Governor,  Tanko Almakura; Ogun State  Governor, Ibikunle  Amosun; Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola; Oyo State  Governor, Abiola
Ajimobi; Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Geldam; and Zamfara  State Governor,  Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari. The governors’ statement came just as some Nigerians  condemned the action of the police authorities in Rivers and the police insisted  that they did not bar  the governor from accessing Government House.
The governors said they received the news of the blockade with shock and disbelief, adding that crisis in Rivers  since July 2013 constituted a major threat to the nation’s  democracy.
They added that the situation in Rivers State was  unfortunate and   that all Nigerians must call on the Federal Government and  all its  agencies, including all arms of the security services, to respect the letter  and spirit of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution.
They said, “In the specific case of Rivers State, provisions of Section 215(4)  of the 1999 Constitution must be fully respected. This  section provides that  the Governor “may give to the Commissioner of Police of  that state such lawful  directions with respect to the maintenance and security of  public safety and  public order within the state as he may consider necessary,  and the  Commissioner of Police shall comply with those directions or  cause them to be  complied with.’’
The governors  noted  that  the inability of  the federal Authorities to exercise all  the necessary  constitutional and moral authority to ensure the speedy  resolution of the  crisis had remained a source of danger for  the nation’s   democracy ,  the life of Amaechi and those of other public officers serving in the state.
The governors   said the police action was a bad precedent and wondered if  it was a signal that a similar blockade could be mounted  against the President  at the Presidential Villa. The police had on Thursday stopped Amaechi from using the gate to gain entrance  into the Government House. The governor was in company with  102 former speakers  of state Houses of Assembly when a team of policemen  allegedly drafted by the  State Police Commissioner, Mr. Joseph Mbu, blocked the  Forces Avenue which  leads to the governor’s house in the Government House.
The ex-Speakers were in the state capital for a meeting and  had gone on an  inspection tour after paying a courtesy visit to the  governor. Reacting, the New Peoples Democratic Party said what happened in Rivers State was  a sign that the country was returning to the dark days of  the former Head of  State, Gen. Sani Abacha.
A statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the faction, Chief  Chukwuemeka Eze, in Abuja on Friday, said many events in the  country had shown  that democracy was not being allowed to thrive.
“Indeed, General Sani Abacha must be lamenting in his grave that Nigerians  wrongly abused him considering the high degree of impunities  being encouraged  in a democratic set up, with the Police being used as a tool  to haunt political  opponents,” the faction said.

We didn’t block Amaechi – Police
However, the Rivers State  Police Command on Thursday denied blocking Governor Amaechi,
from gaining  access into the Government House. The command in a statement signed by its Public Relations  Officer, Mrs. Angela  Agabe, described media reports on the matter as “incorrect, false,  fictitious and wrong in its entirety”.
The statement reads, “The attention of the police command has been drawn to  stories making the round in the media that the police  blocked the road to the  Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt, denying His  Excellency,  Governor Chibuike Amaechi ,access to the Government House.
The police state categorically that they did not block the road leading to the  Government House, neither did they deny Governor Rotimi  Amaechi access to the  Government House in Port Harcourt or elsewhere.
“The story is incorrect, false, fictitious and wrong in  its entirety and it is  calculated to mislead the people of Rivers State, Nigerians  and the general  public. The Nigeria Police Force deems it necessary to place  in proper  perspective the event that gave rise to the wrong  information being peddled in  the media.’’

Amaechi lied – PDP
Also on Friday, the leadership of the PDP denied the blockade, saying that the governor misled Nigerians.  A statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of  the party, Chief  Olisa Metuh, alleged that the governor created an impression  that he was barred  by the police and the Federal Government from entering the  Government House.
“This distortion of facts is totally unacceptable and  unbefitting of a  state governor,” Metu said, adding that  Amaechi was  aware that based  on the ruling of the courts, the police had sealed off a  secretariat illegally  opened by some individuals under the name, flag and colour  of the PDP.

We have no democracy again – Amaechi
Also on Friday, Amaechi reminisced  on the incident which he described as the height of lawlessness and impunity.   Amaechi, at an event for the former speakers in Port  Harcourt, explained that  Nigerians were now in a dispensation where the law was no  longer supreme and  urged the people to resist impunity.
He said, “All of you saw how the former Speakers came down  from the vehicle to  tell them (police) where we were coming from, but the Police  resisted.   “It is for Nigerians to see that we no longer have democracy in this country.  We are now in a regime where the law is no longer supreme.  We must rise up  against this impunity against our democracy.”
“The National Assembly and the various state houses of assembly should address  the retirement and welfare of the ex-lawmakers, it is very  important,” Amaechi  said.
The Chairman of the former Speakers’ Forum and ex-Speaker of the Plateau State  House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Simon Lalong, described the  police behaviour as the  highest level of impunity in the country. He also urged the  National Assembly  to call for the resignation of the Inspector General of  Police, Mr. Mohammed  Abubakar.
Lalong, who spoke on behalf of the ex-speakers, said that if  the police could  act so unfairly where a governor was concerned, ordinary  Nigerians were not safe.
He said, “I don’t think it is really police overzealousness, but the police are  controlled by higher authorities. So, if that is what is  happening, I think  people should collectively call for the resignation of the  Inspector-General of  Police.
“Very soon, maybe they will start arresting people in their houses. I wonder  what is really happening. I think the President must  intervene in this issue.”
Also, a former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Senator Olorunimbe Mamora, expressed sadness at the action of the police.
Mamora said, “I think, to say the least, that (roadblock) was quite unfortunate  because we were coming from an inspection of projects. More  than 70 former  speakers were in the governor’s (Amaechi) entourage to  inspect projects and on  our way back to the Government House, we discovered that we  just couldn’t pass  because the road had been blocked.”
Peterside, Sagay, Okey, others react  In Abuja, a member of the House of  Representatives, who is also the Chairman, House Committee  on Downstream, Mr.  Dakuku Peterside, described  the police action  as the  height of  dictatorship in the country.
Peterside, who is from Rivers State, spoke via a statement issued by his media  aide, Mr. Sylvester Asoya.
He said, “A situation whereby the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Mbu led  police in the State, an agency funded with tax payers money,  to block the elected  state governor  from having access to Government House,  showed that  Nigeria was on a free fall to maximum dictatorship.”
Peterside further lamented that “the insult on the  Government of Rivers State is an affront to all elected political office holders  in Nigeria that  requires definite condemnation by all lovers of freedom and  democracy.”
A former chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Oyo State, who is  now a leading figure in the newly registered All  Progressives Alliance,   Mr. Akin Oke, said the action of the police in Rivers State was a threat  to democracy, calling on President Goodluck Jonathan to caution  Mbu, for  disrespecting social equality.
Similarly, a respected lawyer, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), and the National Vice President, Committee for the Defense of  Human Rights, Mr. Taiwo Otitolaye, said the police action  was a threat to  democracy.
In separate telephone interviews with our correspondent in Ilorin on Friday, they advised against acts that  could jeopardize the nation’s democracy.
While   Sagay said the blockage  was an abuse of power and a violation of Nigeria’s constitution,  Otitolaye said it was  an act of brigandage.
“It is undemocratic.  We condemn it in strong terms. It is worrisome to us  now that we are not in a military dictatorship.  We do not  want to revert  to that era of military dictatorship. We ask that the presidency should not use  the police or other security apparatus for any undemocratic adventure. He  should desist henceforth from such,” Otitolaye  said.
Sagay described the police action as  a breach of the rule of law,  a breach of the right of the  freedom of the  movement of the governor; a breach of  Amaechi’s right to  go to his office   and an  inhumane act.  He said, “It is a breach of  everything. It should not be seen to happen in a civilized society or a  democratic society.”
Oke said, “The event of Thursday in Port Harcourt is  worrisome and disturbing, particularly at this point when we  are thinking that  democracy has come to stay. For democracy to thrive in Nigeria, there must be tolerance. When you now view it from the point that there is no tolerance  within the party (PDP), how do we grow our democracy?”
